Just because you wear a hijab...

another-muslimah:

It does not give you the right to judge your fellow muslimah’s who do not wear hijab. The fact that you are judging them in the first place just goes to show how arrogant you are in thinking that you yourself have no flaws that people could judge you on. Is your faith that strong and perfect that you are comfortable enough to point the finger at others? You may have the ‘advantage’ (for lack of a better word) in appearance, but how do you know that your fellow muslimah isn’t more sincere in her salaah than you are? How do you know that she isn’t kinder than you are? How do you know that she doesn’t have a closer relationship with Allah than you do?

Yes, Hijabis do get a lot of negative comments thrown at them by non-muslims and those who are not educated when it comes to Islam. But the amount of critisism Hijabis throw at non-Hijabis is absolutely astounding!

This scenario can be applied to muslims in general who like to critisise non-muslims too. Even the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) showed respect to muslims and non-muslims alike. Are we better than the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) himself? NO! Then what gives us the right to judge other people? Gossiping and backbiting has become so common amongst society nowadays that it takes an effort to remove yourself from these situations if you’ve grown up around this kind of thing.

I am not going to sit here and pretend like I’ve never judged a person before. I do not wish to be a hypocrite. I live in a world where my peers enjoy discussing the flaws of others and base an entire conversation on gossip. Yes, I occasionally do get sucked into this idle chatter and I wish I had someone to remind me the consequences of these kind of conversations. Alhamdulillah, I have seen the error of my ways and Insha’Allah, I pray that Allah gives me the strength to walk away from and not get involved in these sinful actions.

“Thinking about things that one shouldn’t be thinking about is considered prohibited. Including that would be weaknesses/faults of Muslims whether they be absent or present. There’s a tree in paradise for the one whose preoccupation with his OWN faults causes him to forget the faults of others. Everybody’s got faults and if you start thinking about other peoples’ faults, you’re just a fool.”
